A growing number of 911 calls being fielded by our dispatchers are unintended and have nothing to do with an emergency at all.
Last year from 01/01/2022 - 06/07/2022 we received 1,060 - 911 hang-up/misdial calls. So far from 01/01/2023 thru today we have received 1,891 - 911 hang-up/misdial calls. Since midnight we have received 11 - 911 hang-up calls.
Please familiarize yourself with your new phone/smartwatch to see how it will automatically dial 911. If you seem to make a lot of misdials to 911, maybe turning the function off on your device is best. When we receive these misdials/hang-ups it ties up our deputies from possibly responding to emergent calls.
