Arbor Place breaking ground on new residential treatment facility

Arbor Place, Inc., a long-standing provider for substance use disorder and mental health support in Western Wisconsin, is thrilled to announce the upcoming groundbreaking ceremony for its highly anticipated project. The ceremony will mark the commencement of construction for a new residential substance use disorder treatment unit specifically designed for women and women with young children.

The groundbreaking ceremony will take place on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at 3:00 PM and will feature key stakeholders, community leaders, and esteemed guests. This includes Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul and Michelle Haese of Wisconsin Department of Health Services, among others. This occasion will celebrate the culmination of extensive planning and collaboration, ushering in new hope and support for those in need.

Arbor Place’s new treatment unit will include 20-beds for women and children, comfortable common living and dining spaces, counseling and therapy spaces, an exercise room, childcare space, and outdoor play area.

The $5.9 million project is made possible in part from a grant from Wisconsin Department of Health Services borne from opioid settlement dollars. Wisconsin has designated opioid settlement dollars to support various projects, programs, and initiatives to prevent opioid use disorder while continuing and strengthening successful efforts for harm reduction, treatment, and recovery. In 2022 1,464 people died of an opioid overdose in Wisconsin and there were a recorded 2,530 emergency room visits because of opioid use.

“We believe this new treatment unit will not only fill a gap in services for women with children, but also have the potential to greatly improve how multiple systems are able to support families in addressing substance use disorders,” added Jill Gamez, Executive Director. “We are grateful for the support of our partners and the community and look forward to celebrating this milestone together."

Members of the media, elected officials, and the public are invited to attend the groundbreaking ceremony and learn more about Arbor Place’s exciting new development. For more information, please contact Jill Gamez, Executive Director at 715-235-4537 ext. 206.
