The next Community Conversations is scheduled for Saturday, March 29th, from 12:30 to 2:30 pm at the Menomonie Public Library.
The discussion will be about Dan Kaufman's book, "The Fall of Wisconsin." The book provides some insight into what we are seeing in 2025 in President Trump’s second term.
Anyone interested in our discussion is encouraged to attend. As some of us will not have had time to read the book, here is a link to a video where the author discusses his book -it is about an hour long. He discusses the previous cooperation between the two parties to pass laws to protect the environment. In the early 1900’s, Wisconsin Republicans began the Progressive Movement in Wisconsin to protect individuals' rights. Why has there been an unravelling of this social safety net? How have these changes impacted the rest of our country? What can we do about this as individuals or local communities?
Community Conversations is a local nonpartisan group started in 2015 to discuss topics that affect our community. Presentations include speakers and videos with conversations afterward about issues that affect the local community and Western Wisconsin.
