Community Conversations: Wisconsin State Biennial Budget - April 19th

The next Community Conversations is scheduled for Saturday, April 19th, from 12:30 to 2:30 pm at the Menomonie Public Library.

The topic of discussion will be Governor Evers’ Wisconsin State Biennial Budget proposed in February 2025. Our special guest will be Wisconsin State Senator Jeff Smith from the 31st Senate District.

Join us as we discuss school funding, health care, infrastructure, tax breaks for the middle and lower classes, preservation of our environment, and support for child care so parents can join the workforce. In our prior Community Conversations session three months ago, we discussed shared revenue for municipalities granted by Act 12.

Governor Evers wants to continue supporting our local governments in his current budget proposal. He wants to modernize the Wisconsin justice and correction system, commit to our veterans, and allow our residents access to affordable housing.

We will also discuss the threats to our state programs, the affordability of daily essentials, and the return of our state dollars from our federal taxes related to the long list of executive orders and policies of the new administration in the White House.  How will our state address these challenges?  We will also discuss the powerful Joint Committee on Finance and its influence on the biennial budget.

All are welcome to attend this conversation.

Community Conversations is a local nonpartisan group started in 2015 to discuss topics that affect our community. Presentations include speakers and videos with conversations afterward about issues that affect the local community and Western Wisconsin.
