Delvin John Steies, age 59, passed away at The Neighbors of Dunn County on February 16, 2025, where he had been living since July 2024 after his health started failing due to severe heart condition. He was born October 12, 1965 to John and Betty (Hanson) Steies.
Delvin lived most of his life in Downing with his parents. He attended and graduated from Glenwood City High School in 1984. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Boyceville, WI. When he was in his early twenties he developed a mental health condition called Schizophrenia after a short military experience. It changed the course of his life forever. His condition made it impossible for him to live life on his own. His parents cared for him the best way they knew how. It was a hard life for all of them.
In 2016 when his Mom went into assisted living, his sister Sandy became his guardian. He then moved to Menomonie into an apartment of his own for the first time in his life. From there he was able to purchase his own home in February 2020. He was so proud to have a home of his own. Delvin loved and appreciated his family very much.
Delvin was an avid sports fan, he loved the Packers, Badgers, Brewers and the Milwaukee Bucks. Delvin loved music of all kinds; his all-time favorite group was The Beatles. He also enjoyed watching movies, especially action, thrillers, and occasionally watched Disney movies. Delvin’s knowledge of music, movies and sports was amazing, he knew so much about all these things. He always looked forward to listening to Christmas music, where he would start listening in October and never tired of it until Christmas was over. He dreamed of having a new Chevy truck someday because he was a Chevrolet man. He had a deep admiration for collector cars, trucks and hot rods.
In August 2017, he enjoyed a trip to South Dakota with his sisters, Sandy and Marilyn. He also took one of his wish list trips to see Washington DC over July 4th with his mentor Juan Gordillo.
