Dunn County alters door to use to attend after-hours meetings

MENOMONIE, Wis. -- Citizens who attend meetings of Dunn County government after normal business hours will use the lower-level entrance of the Government Center building beginning Sunday, Oct. 1.

Signage on the entrance road and on the front door of the Government Center, 3001 Highway 12 East in Menomonie, directs people to the correct door, which is on the west side of the building, facing The Neighbors of Dunn County. This entrance will be open a half hour before the meeting is scheduled to start.

Officials said this lower-level entrance is on the same floor as the meetings so it will provide simpler access to meetings and is a better access point for those with limited mobility. Using the lower-level entrance also will enhance security in the building when meetings occur after normal business hours, officials said.

To ensure that as many people as possible have access to the meetings, video recordings of the proceedings are available on Dunn County’s YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/@dunncounty1854, one to two days after the meeting.

Those who want to provide public comment to a governmental body before a meeting commences can do so at publiccomment@co.dunn.wi.us. A calendar of meetings with links to agendas is available on the county’s agenda at https://dunncountywi.gov/.

“We want to make Dunn County government meetings as safe as possible and still encourage all of our citizens to participate in their government,” said Kristin Korpela, county manager. “We believe these changes will help us accomplish those goals.”
