Dunn County, other highway departments want to hear about safety concerns

The public is being asked to help Dunn County highway officials find the spots on county roads that pose safety concerns.

The public can go to https://wikimapping.com/Dunn-County-Safety-Action-Plan.html to report locations on county roads that drivers believe pose safety problems.

The effort is being coordinated by SRF Consulting Group of Minneapolis through a Safe Streets for All federal grant.

“Dunn County is committed to making our roads safer for everyone,” said Dustin Binder, county Highway Commissioner.

He explained that the county is preparing a Safety Action Plan that will be used to guide future transportation spending.

“We want the public to be part of the process,” Binder said, by alerting the county to trouble spots.

The wikimapping web site allows users to pinpoint a trouble spot on an interactive map and leave a comment explaining the problem.  Users can also see where others have left their comments on county road safety concerns.

Binder said he expects the Safety Action Plan for Dunn County to be completed this fall.
