Cohesiveness and positivity will be an integral part of a Mustangs soccer team that will use all four grade levels at the varsity level. Fifth-year head coach Meagan Frank commented, “We have a solid core of seniors who have really enjoyed playing together over the years,” who will mesh some younger freshmen and sophomores. Frank said, “It will be fun to watch how the chemistry comes together.”
The Mustangs finished 5-7-5 overall and 1-7-2 in the lower division of Big Rivers Conference in 2024.
Senior goalie Ilisabeth Doran, a 2024 All-BRC honorable mention, returns in net with senior Marie Zunker coming back again to help Doran on the defensive end of the pitch. Young Mustangs sophomore Sydney Norby and freshman Ariana Beazley are expected to make solid contributions while other freshmen will likely chip in as well.
Frank commented on her 2025 squad, “They have worked hard to build a positive culture for our program and they are excited to welcome in a young crop of talented players. We always have our hands full with the incredibly competitive BRC, and this year will be that way again. We are excited about a variety of new opponents for non-conference play and expect to compete every game.”
The biggest challenge for the Mustangs this season will be their depth. With low numbers committed to the soccer program, players will have to fight through fatigue throughout the spring season.
Frank, who has a coaching history of nearly two decades, has also coached college soccer at UW-Stout. Other varsity coaches include Lauren Chukel and goalie coach Stephen Doran while Gary Johnson will help at the junior varsity level.”
Second team All-BRC selection Kiana Frank, who finished the conference season with four goals and 12 total points, was lost from last year's soccer team.
The Mustangs will open their season on the road versus La Crosse Logan on April 1 at 7 pm. Some notable dates for Menomonie soccer fans: Parents night on April 22nd, youth night on April 29th and senior night on May 13th.
