The Menomonie Optimist Club has named Menomonie High School senior Kajsiab Xiong as the Youth of the Month for November. She was honored at the club’s November 15th meeting.
Kajsiab Xiong is both an outstanding student at Menomonie High School, and an
outstanding citizen. She serves on the Student Council, is a member of the Science Olympiad team, founded a new Multicultural Club which now boasts over 40 members and has performed in numerous musical productions.
Kajsiab plays the violin and has been a member of the soccer and volleyball teams. She also was chosen as Homecoming Queen this year. Kajsiab has worked at both
Walmart and McDonald’s.
Her plans are to attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she plans to major in pre-med. The eldest of six children, her father described her as the “second CEO of the house,” because of her help with younger siblings.
In addition to honoring Youth of the Month, the Menomonie Optimist Club also
provides a free dictionary each year to every third grader in Dunn County, hosts
the Menomin Meander, a family-oriented and free bike ride for the community,
and conducts work projects with area school groups at Hoffman Hills State
Recreation Area.
