Bella Johnson, a member of the Menomonie Area Aquatic Club (MAAC), competed at the 2023 Central Zone 14&U Championships this past weekend at the Shawnee Mission Aquatic Center in Lenexa, Kansas. Around 700 swimmers from 10 different states traveled to Lenexa for the competition. Bella competed in three events, the 50-meter freestyle, the 100-meter freestyle, and the 50-meter butterfly. Bella excelled in all three events. She dropped 3.4 seconds from her 100 freestyle: 1:07.31 (placed 36th), a massive drop of 2.71 seconds from her 50 butterfly: 32.96 (placed 29th) and chiseled an impressive 1.5 seconds off her 50 freestyle with a time of 30.12 and placed 14th.
