Menomonie will soon have another football team to cheer for. The Red Cedar Raptors, a semi-pro team competing in the Mid-West United Football League (MWUF), will play their home games at the Menomonie High School Sports Complex starting this spring.

“Menomonie is a football town,” said owner Pete King. “People here are passionate about both the Mustangs and the Blue Devils, so I wanted to give the community another team to rally behind and support during the spring and summer.”

Several familiar names will be among the Raptors' players and coaches. Recent MHS graduate Nick Scheff, who was a tight end for the Mustangs, will continue in that position for the Raptors. Assistant Defensive Coach Jon Stoll is a Menomonie High School alum, local business owner, and the father of a current Mustangs player. Assistant Head Coach Clay Barnes is a former Menomonie resident who attended UW-Stout and served on the city council.

“I love football, and I love this town, so to be a part of building a new team here is exciting for me. It’s also exciting to give local players a chance to continue to play the game they love after graduation,” said Stoll. “Our goal as coaches, staff, and players is to produce a championship-caliber team for years to come. I would love nothing more than for football fans around the state to know Menomonie not only as the home of the Mustangs and Blue Devils but also the Raptors.”

To kick off their inaugural season, the Raptors will host a Paul Bunyan Pancake Feed Fundraiser on March 15th from 9 AM to 1 PM at Menomonie High School. (See flyer below for details.) Proceeds will help support the team as it gears up for a competitive season. This is a great chance for fans to meet the players, coaches, and staff while enjoying a hearty breakfast—all for a good cause!

The Raptors' first home game is on April 26th against the Central Wisconsin Bandits. The MWUF features teams from Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, and Illinois. A schedule can be found at the end of this post.

With a strong foundation and local support, the Red Cedar Raptors are ready to make their mark in Menomonie’s football tradition!
