Last evening, Menomonie Fire was called to rescue a dog that had fallen into a 30-foot deep, 3-foot wide dry well in the Town of Menomonie.
Using newly replaced rescue equipment, firefighters assembled a tripod system to lower and lift a firefighter into the well. Air monitors were attached to the tripod first to ensure air safety.
A firefighter was then lowered head-first into the well, where he found the dog, Rip, with no injuries. Rip was placed in a sling and lifted out safely, reuniting with his owner.
The rescue was completed successfully by 10:00 PM. Well done, A shift!
