Menomonie High School names Class of 2024 Valedictorian and Salutatorians


Menomonie High School has named Madison Kwak as Valedictorian, and Madeline Mittlestadt and Kajsiab Xiong as Salutatorians for the Class of 2024.


These students not only excelled academically but were very active in extracurricular activities, sports, and volunteering. 


Valedictorian Madison Kwak


Madison will attend the University of Wisconsin to study Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences.


Madison has been an active FFA member since the 7th grade. She was a member of the parliamentary procedure team and the CDE (Career Development Events) horse evaluation team, which both won the state competition and advanced to nationals. In addition, Madison won state competitions individually in CDE horse evaluation and the SAE (Supervised Agriculture Experience) project in equine placement. Her SAE project earned her a second-place finish at the national competition.  


Madison played in the band and jazz band throughout high school. She is a member of the Forensics team, serving as a captain this year, and a member of the National Honor Society. Madison is also a member of the track and field team and the Wisconsin Interscholastic Horse Association. During her high school years, Madison completed over 100 hours of community service. 


Outside of school, Madison has been active in 4-H and shows horses on the Quarter Horse show circuit. 


Madison was one of 100 Wisconsin students selected for a Kohl Excellence Scholarship. 


Madison is the daughter of Tom and Tricia Kwak.



Salutatorian Madeline Mittlestadt


Madeline will attend Colorado Christian University in Lakewood, Colorado, majoring in nursing with plans to become a nurse practitioner.


During high school, Madeline has been active in the Spanish Club and HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America). She’s been a member of the choir and participated in the school musical. Madeline is a member of the National Honor Society and has completed more than 75 hours of community service. She will graduate with recognition as a Wisconsin Global Scholar and will receive a Global Education Achievement certificate with her diploma.


Madeline participated in the Pre-Nursing Healthcare Academy, where she took nursing classes through CVTC while attending high school. Outside of school, she works as a CNA at a local care facility. 


Madeline is the daughter of Amy and Aaron Mittlestadt.



Salutatorian Kajsiab Xiong


Kajsiab Xiong will attend the University of Wisconsin, majoring in microbiology, with plans to become an obstetrician-gynecologist.


Throughout high school, Kajsiab was very involved with the arts. She played the violin in the orchestra and was the concertmaster throughout high school. She also participated in the musicals Little Shop of Horrors, SpongeBob, and Into the Woods. 


Kajsiab has been a member of the Science Olympiad team all four years, serves on the student council and is currently the student body treasurer. Kajsiab is also a member of the National Honor Society and has completed many hours of community service during her high school years. 


In addition, Kajsiab was named the Menomonie Optimists Club November Youth of the Month.


Kajsiab is the daughter of Sia Yang and Va Xiong.
