The Menomonie Veterans Honor Guard was presented with a sponsored wreath from Walmart Distributing, Inc. as part of Wreaths Across America. Wreaths Across America is a national campaign that remembers fall veterans, honors those who serve, and teaches the next generation the value of freedom by displaying wreaths at memorials nationwide on National Wreaths Across America Day, held in December each year.

Members of the Menomonie Veterans Honor Guard placed the wreath at the Veterans Memorial in Downtown Menomonie during National Wreaths Across America Day on Saturday, December 16th.

Honor Guard member Pat Thibado said this was his first year involved in Wreaths Across America and this program is a wonderful way to honor veterans, those who have fallen during their service, and their families, especially around the holidays.

“We want to draw as much attention as we can for veterans. We know it means a lot to them. We feel it all the time…the wreath lets the families know that we are thinking about them,” Pat said.

Anyone can sponsor a wreath, which supports the yearlong mission to Remember the fallen, Honor those who serve, and Teach the next generation the value of freedom. Sponsorships support the new and existing programs developed to share the mission. Wreaths are displayed to honor an American hero at one of more than 3,700 participating locations on National Wreaths Across America Day.
