We want to inform the public about an incident that occurred on May 27th with one of our emergency response vehicles.
Around 6:00 PM, Medic 2 was transporting a patient from Mayo Menomonie to Mayo Stillwater. The route taken by Medic 2 included Stout Road to North Broadway and then I-94 West to MN 95 North into Stillwater.
During this journey, Medic 2 was struck in the rear patient compartment doors by two paintballs. Fortunately, no damage was sustained, and the paint was easily washed off. However, this incident is concerning as it shows a purposeful and dangerous act aimed at an ambulance actively engaged in patient transport.
The above photo taken by the crew that shows the paintball marks on the ambulance.
Such actions not only endanger the lives of patients and medical staff but also impede critical medical services.
We urge anyone with information about this incident to come forward and assist in ensuring the safety of our emergency medical service personnel and the patients they transport.
