Three eighth grade students at Menomonie Middle School took the top three prizes in the Patriot's Pen Writing Contest, which is sponsored by the VFW. The annual contest is open to 6th through 8th graders throughout the country, and this year's focus was "My Pledge to Our Veterans." Elsa Bowman, Cassiah Casey, and Jordan Ohman took first, second and third place at our local level and were awarded cash prizes. Each year, the eighth graders at Menomonie Middle School submit essays to this contest, and many have won at the local level and beyond.
