Mustang track and field athletes qualify for state meet


Five members of the Menomonie Mustang track team have qualified for the WIAA State Track & Field Meet scheduled for this weekend in LaCrosse. 




Junior Jaevon Berg advanced to state in the high jump after placing second at the sectional meet where he cleared a height of 6’4″.

Sophomore Lauren McCalla qualified in two events. McCalla won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:20.83 and finished second in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:16.25.


The girls 4x800 relay team consisting of McCalla, senior Brooklyn Hoff, senior Madison Lehman, and freshman Bella Drake finished third to secure a spot at state. The girls finished the relay with a time of 9:44.42.  Sophomore Kyah Barnhart and freshman Carly Weber are alternates for the relay.


This relay team won the BRC Championships with a time of 9:39.30 establishing a new school record. The previous record was 9:53.07 set in 2009. This was also a new BRC record, breaking the previous conference record of 9:47.
