Notes for the week - June 15th

If you know some kids that are looking for books to read this summer, stop by the library. The Friends of the Menomonie Public Library have a huge selection of juvenile fiction books at unbeatable prices.

Take a look at the Menomonie Public Library's June e-Newsletter.

Jason Dea West's video for his song I'd Gone to Disappear was filmed at the Mabel Tainter. Jason is from Menomonie, but currently resides in Arizona.

The City of Menomonie shared that 27,353 pounds of electronics were properly recycled during the collection event on June 1st.

A couple of weeks ago the Our View column in the Opinion page of the Eau Claire Leader Telegram was about the watering restrictions. While the column focused on Altoona and Lake Hallie, it rings true for Menomonie as well. Definitely worth the read and you can find it here.

Here's a video highlighting Menomonie. The Lovenesters are a Wisconsin couple that make videos about their adventures as empty-nesters.

Save the date for the Menomin Meander, August 19th (Saturday) from 9am-11am. The Menomin Meander is a family-friendly 8.5-mile bike ride around Menomonie’s Lake Menomin on the Lake Menomin Loop Bike Trail. This bike ride is sponsored by the Menomonie Optimist Club. Watch for more information.

Wisconsin DOT launched new driver's licenses and ID cards this week designed to be more resistant to fraud. There's no requirement to get the new cards, however, anyone interested can order a replacement online. Follow this link for more information and to order. Here's an article from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel with more information, read it here.

The Menomonie High School Chorus Concert is performing with the NYC Chamber Orchestra at Carnegie Hall this week!
