Attention parents with youth in Grades 7 - 10
First Congregational United Church of Christ of Menomonie will offer Our Whole Lives (OWL) – a comprehensive lifespan sexuality education curriculum provided by certified volunteer OWL facilitators affiliated with our congregation this fall. Our Whole Lives contains no religious references or doctrine.
Our Whole Lives provides accurate, developmentally-appropriate information about a range of topics, including relationships, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, sexual health, and cultural influences on sexuality.
Participation Guidelines
Specific requirements have been established for youth participation in the OWL program. These requirements have been established due to of the sensitivity of the OWL program content, as well as the need to create a covenantal relationship between the class participants, parents & guardians, and the volunteer facilitators:
Youth must be pre-registered to participate in the class. No drop-in youth or guests are permitted during OWL classes.
All custodial parents & guardians must attend a complete Parent or Guardian Orientation led by our volunteer facilitators. Parents & guardians must also complete a signed permission form in order for the youth to attend any OWL class. This is true even if you have attended orientation in the past for a child who attended OWL.
Parents/Guardians and youth must commit to ensuring attendance at OWL classes.
To register, contact Karen Miller, Director of Faith Formation, First Congregational United Church of Christ at dirfaithform@menomonieucc.org or by text at 715-619-0609.
Note: Dates and times will not be set until students have registered.
