Rosalia Mohr



Rosalia Mohr, age 88, of Menomonie, WI died Monday, February 10, 2025. She was born April 11, 1936 in Scheindorf, Romania to Andrew and Maria Holzli.


Rosa's family were forced to leave their home in Romania during WWII, settling in Germany where she lost her mother at the age of 14. With two younger brothers and a sister, Rosa took over caring for the family. Later the family was able to emigrate to Alberta, Canada.


Rosa married Philipp Mohr on May 21, 1955 in Shaughnessy, Alberta, Canada. He was also from her hometown in Romania. They settled in Waukegan, IL and later raised their family in Winthrop Harbor, IL where Rosa was a homemaker.


In 1995, when Philipp retired, they moved to Menomonie, WI. She was proud to become a U.S. citizen in December 1999. Married for 50 years, Rosa lost her husband in 2006. She volunteered at the Mayo Clinic in Menomonie for several years until health issues occurred. Rosa was much loved by her family and friends and had a kind and caring heart.


Rosa is survived by two daughters, Loretta (Kris) Leable of Menomonie, WI, Cindy (Bill) Batz of Gurnee, IL; Four grandchildren, Jared (Viviana) Leable, Josh (Jessica) Leable, Lisa Batz and Amy Batz; Two great-grandchildren, Avery and Adeline Leable. She is further survived by sister, Helen (Norm) Feil of Sooke, British Columbia, Canada as well as many nieces and nephews in Canada.


She was preceded in death by her father Andrew Holzli, Sr., stepmother Magdalena Holzli, brothers Andrew and Adolph Holzli, and her son, Raymond Mohr.


Funeral services will be private for the family. Burial will be in Cedar Falls cemetery in the Town of Red Cedar, Dunn County, WI.
