Volunteer Opportunity: Adopt Ash Tree Benches

The City of Menomonie Urban Forestry Board needs volunteers to adopt one or more of the city's ash tree benches. These benches were created through a joint effort of the Urban Forestry Board, City Community Services Department, and UW-Stout.

Benefits of our Adopt a Bench program

  • Enhanced Public Spaces: Helps keep our public spaces and parks beautiful and clean.

  • Community Engagement: Encourages people to get involved in the community.

  • Economic Benefits: Nice public spaces can increase property values and support the local economy.

What does adopting a bench mean?

Those who adopt a bench will be given guidelines for caring for the bench.  These guidelines include:

  • Details about the bench, including finish.

  • Instructions on inspecting the bench once a year.

  • Doing any needed maintenance, including sanding and refinishing the bench.

The bench pictured above in Cedarama Park is in the process of being refinished by volunteer Mark Mastalir.

If you’re interested in adopting a bench or have questions, contact the Environmental Program Coordinator, Megen Hines.
