By Chad Zutter, Sports Reporter

On his second goal of the night, in a 6-5 loss to Rice Lake at the Fanetti Ice Arena, senior Hayden Weir reached 100 career points. In Weir’s career as a Mustang, he has scored 51 goals and dished out 51 assists.

A very proud head coach Matt Ellis commented, “This is a really hard accomplishment to get.” He added about Weir, “It is a big individual accomplishment but also a team one. Weir received this accomplishment along with his teammates. If he didn't have them, it wouldn't be possible for him.”

Weir, a four-year varsity player, tallied 13 points as a freshman, 26 points in his sophomore campaign, and added 39 last season. This season, with a handful of games remaining, Weir has contributed 24 points to the Mustangs hockey squad, leading the team with 14 goals and 10 assists.

The last Mustangs hockey player to garner 100 points in his career, based on known statistics, was Drew Otto, who tallied 134 points over two seasons from 2010-2012.

The Mustangs will travel to Barron on Saturday, February 8th to take on the Northwest Iceman at 2 pm before closing out the regular season with conference opponents Chippewa Falls and Eau Claire Memorial.
