What to do in an overdose situation

An opioid overdose can happen to anyone that's around opioids.

Tips to help prevent an opioid overdose:

  • Keep prescription opioids (like Vicodin, Oxy, Codeine) locked up so kids and pets can't accidentally get them.

  • Make sure to keep track of when you or someone you know takes their prescribed pills each day, so they don't accidentally take too much.

  • Dispose of any expired or unused pills at a Prescription Pill Take Back location. They can help you safely get rid of medications you don't need anymore.
